Strong & Son Electrical Ltd (SEL) was established in 1982 and has grown from a team of four to more than 25 employees. Throughout this time, the company has successfully delivered a wide range of projects for diverse clients, consistently meeting required standards, specifications, and deadlines.

The business has a strong history of ownership, spanning two generations and, fittingly, two sets of “sons.” Today, SEL is proudly owned and operated by a team who continue to build on the company’s longstanding reputation for quality workmanship, reliability, and professional service.

SEL operates on the principles of quality workmanship, respect, and accountability, with a clear commitment to standing behind its work. The team brings together a broad range of experience, training, and practical expertise across electrical and HVAC services, including design, installation, and maintenance for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.

With a strong, collaborative team culture, SEL has developed a reputation for being dependable and solutions-focused.

Our company is also committed to training and development, regularly supporting apprentices in both electrical and mechanical trades and contributing to the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

Operating from modern facilities on Churton Street, SEL is fully resourced to deliver projects of all sizes.

SEL has been a member of the Electrical Contractors Association of New Zealand (ECANZ) since 1989 and is a Quality Assured member of Master Electricians. This provides clients with added assurance, including independently reviewed standards of workmanship, certified electrical work, a strong focus on health and safety, and access to a $20,000 residential workmanship guarantee.

SEL also holds SiteWise health and safety accreditation, reflecting its ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards of workplace safety and compliance across all projects.
